Greetings fellow defilers of the not so living anymore. Have you been frequenting Nusibe Necropolis? Chasing down the ever elusive Skin of the Xakrin perhaps? Well then, perhaps you might save yourself some of the looooong path of carnage it takes to get down to the Godking by taking the shortcut directly to the Core from outside of the Necropolis. Sounds groovy no? Okay then, here is what you need to do!!

Head down to Lord Neferset's room (that being the floating skull in the sparkly light show within Nusibe) Once you are there, check the ground just north of Lord Neferset over by the ramp, you are looking for a skeleton on the ground. You will find a quest starter item called "Dried Moldy Note". Right clicking the note will produce the following quest text and start you on your way:

Penetrating The Core

Description:
It appears to be a journal entry. It reads, "After deciphering the glyphs on the pillar at the entrance, I have decided to venture into the City of the Dead. I go alone, as Nekah and Forlen have both abandoned me and this journey. Perhaps they just quit, or fled out of fear?"

"Either way, I am not afraid. I must find the blade and hilt from the warrior halls. Surely one of those undead will have them. When the two pieces combine together, I will stab the Blade of Hekketat into the core…and pray."

Objectives

Find the blade and the hilt from the dead in the warrior halls. Somehow combine them to create the Blade of Hekketat. Find the core, and stab the blade into it.

     * Blade of Hekketat Created
* Stab Blade Into The Core

On to the Warrior Halls:

From Neferset's room, heading northwest will lead you in the direction you want to go. On the way down the stairs you will get the Hall of the Warrior or whatever text announcing you have arrived. Now kill and kill and kill untl you find the blade and the hilt.

and

Once you have both parts, click on one and they will combine themselves into the new and improved Blade of Hekketat. Now return to Neferset's room and head to the Core!

To the Core:

From Neferset's room, head west, once past the stairs take the first right. Continue west, and note, the mobs in that room are not aggressive but will assist any mob that you may fight in the room, aka.. DO NOT fight in that room! Go west down the stairs, Ta-da, the core of Hekketat! The obelisk thingy in the middle is the core. Stab the core with your spiffy new Blade of Hekketat by clicking on the obelisk… it will psyche you out.. be prepared hehe. sometimes it teleports you out, sometimes it doesn't if reports can be believed. At the very least expect to read this Quest text:

WTF! yes I know… a bit confusing. Why did I just do all this running around?!

Well the answer is quite simple, from now on instead of fighting your way through all of those mobs, you can simply use the mini obelisk at the entrance of Nusibe (just past the skele horse guardians outside) and you will be instantly teleported down to the core where you had stabbed the blade into. If you happen to be a summoning class people will love you long time for this since you can teleport down and summon the rest of the group past that unnecessary killing spree.

Congrats! You are officially attuned to the core… that just sounds so World of Warcraft doesn't it?!?

Greetings fellow necromancers of Telon. Are you level 50 and in need of something to do perhaps? A bit bored with Rhaz or Tehatamani Harbor? Need something a little different or if you are of the appropriate level range.. a challenge worthy of your time?! Well then my fellow corpse fondlers, here is something worth doing and quite a useful reward! The quest to remake the book of Morfare! A spiffy book which when activated allows your entire group to do an extra 10% damage to undead creatures! Just think of the possibilities! These is of course quite a bit of legwork and dare I say farming, but the end result seems worth the investment. On to the Quest!

The Morfare Council
This quest begins by speaking to Olkurk Insli in Khal (-6554, -57754, East side of Harbor) If you are at least lvl 23 he will give you the quest called The Morfare Council!!

Olkurk says, "It is said that if the ten pages of the book of Morfare can be found and brought back together, the book will reveal its power to whoever should read it."

"Sadly, the book was torn to pieces and the pages scattered when the Morfare council decided to end their partnership. If you could find the pages, I could bind them back together and reveal the book's magic. If by a stroke of luck you ever find all ten pages, please bring them to me."

This quest has you go find 10 pages of an ancient book and piece them back together. These pages are spread out all over Telon so expect to do quite a bit of traveling.

Note: Based on the level mobs in each step of this quest there is a bit of common sense involved in using the guide, are you soloing the steps? are you grouped? what is your level versus the level of the mobs in the area. I did not go into detail on the difficulty of any portion of the quest since in all honesty, it will vary dramatically based on the previously mentioned conditions.

Book of Morfare, Page 1
Continent: Qualia
Chunk: Khal
Location: -61850, 39322
Mob: Watcher of the Fates (lvl 9 – 10, 2 dot)
Drop Rate: 6.75%

The Watcher of the Fates are located directly Southwest of Khal and they can easily be found by the large beacon light in their area. They are located on a hilltop at -61850, 39322 and these have a good drop rate.

Book of Morfare, Page 2
Continent: Qalia
Chunk: Qa Riverbank
Location: -86426, -87654
Mob: Turpin (lvl 25, 5 dot)
Drop Rate: 19.4%

To find Turpin start out at the Qa Riverbank Bunker, then head NW along the cliff and you should eventually find a large bone structure at approximately -86426, -87654.

The Carnivorous Shells are those annoying killer clams. To get to them you will need to get into the center of the island, through the tunnels or flying over and in. These two locations are approx areas where you might find them: 7781, 6552 / 8601, -13515.

You need to get to the Skyshrine which is reached via the device at the center of Jalen's Crossing Bridge. The eyes spawn around the entrance to the island of fire around location -29082, -27443. The eyes and wolfmen looking critters share spawns so kill em all. And only the ones that have names ending in "flame" are required to kill since only those locations spawn the mobs you are looking for.

You can find these mobs east of Tanvu. Head into Magi Hold, down the ramp, and find the Ice Wing door. You are in the right area when the mobs you see have names that include th e word "Ice". Past the door you should come up to a ring surrounded by these Wardens (approx 25805, -38912).

The aggro and non aggro ants are not linked and do not share spawn points so ignore the non aggro ones, really, unless you are just bored and want to kill them of course while waiting on more aggro red ones to appear.

These crawling pests are located inside Trengal Keep. Enter through the main entrance then head all the way to the far end of the of fortress, then go to the far right past the mutated Beetles. A gazillion spiders are running around this area, just squash away.

You are looking for the wasps in the Vineyard of Hillsbury Manor. There are two types of Wasps here but only the Vineyard Wasps have a chance to drop it. The spawns are shared so kill wasps of all types with impunity. The humans are undead so feel free to beat them down as well.

You are looking for wisp type mobs inside of the building in the center of the ruins, I have never seen them outside of that building. Kill them as able (group or solo based upon your current level) and be careful with the other roaming mobs, the mob population density here is kinda high.

Okay, so you have all these dumb pages… now what. Well now you need to go back to Khal and speak to Olkurk Insli (-6554, -57754, East side of Harbor). He will give you the following quest text:

Olkurk says, "This is amazing. You have managed to find all of the pages."

Olkurk says, "I shall now try to decipher the mystery of this book."

Olkurk says, "Incredible. There is still no text on the pages, but the book seems to have been updated by magical means at the location of the book's authors. "

"It notes that Talok is in some place call Vol Tuniel, Hikton is deep in the great River Palace, and Devrin wanders the Tanvu coast."

"If you can find each of the original authors and get them to sign the book, the blank pages will most likely be filled in and the text will become legible."

Olkurk says, "Good luck. I hope you find them."

Okay now to get your fully powered Book of Morfare you will now need to get it signed by 3 Morfare Council members who of course are spread out all over the place. These members can be found at:

1. Talok Windlow (Ruins of Vol Tuniel, -17203, 42189):
Head into Vol Tuniel and go deep deep. when you get to the right place you will see a shrine like area filled with lvl 40ish 6 dot snake mobs. You can invis past much of this dungeon but beware the little floating flames and the 6 dot snakes see invis; aka avoid them as able or kill them IS able.

Best directions I could give, from the entrance stairs heading down:

Go Straight until your 4th possible left turn (you will go up some stairs while going straight)

Passage will circler around, then empty out into a room, cross the room and continue through the doorway on the opposite wall than one you came in through.

in this next room, go left and when you come to the next room you will see a hole in the ground… jump in!

Down windy walkway… head south.

At first chance, turn left then left again.

….. At this point I am vague so can't be more specific, but you should be close enough to start targeting Talok, if not, continue in that easterly direction and keep trying til you can.

Talok can be found up on a ledge on the right side of one of the tunnels.

2. Hikton Melsin (River Palace, 58163, 45056):
Hikton Melsin is inside River Palace. Go to the second floor and at the top of the stairs you will turn right. Go through the door and click that wall in the back of that room. Now go out to the balcony (yep guarded balcony, how inconvenient), and then open the door to the center room which was locked in the main hall inside. Hikton Melsin is inside this room.

Note: You can fly from the River Palace riftway up to the balcony of the River Palace. Its much easier than running thru and dealing with all the potential mobs. This would be the balcony on the right side of the building that shows three doors, you want the middle one. And yes, the balcony is guarded so you have been warned.)

3. Devrin Blodrik (Tanvu, 60621, 89702)
This fellow paths near the shore around the coordinates above, You can't miss him really. If in doubt, /targetauto Devrin will help you find him if you are close enough.

Now return to Olkurk Insli (-6554, -57754, East side of Harbor). Talk to Olkurk and receive the following quest text:

Olkurk says, "Thsi can't be… you have done it."

"The power of this book shall indeed increase your odds against the undead of this world."

Cha-Ching.. 18 silver and a book are tossed yoru way. Congratulations, full props, Grats my homey, etc .

Bam! Done! Congrats on your new Book! Go kill some daed guys! Rawr!

Oh yes, no real instruction guide was given with your spiffy new Book of Morfare so what you want to do is find yourself an undead, target it, click book.. done. Of course being the groovy necros that we are, this equates to turn something undead first with soul blight, click book, done.

Notleh's Power Tip: The Book of Morfare does stack with the DE pet buff. So, thats an added 20% damage against undead (the 10% from the book is for everyone in the group and your own personal 10% on top of that).

Then you use a Plague bringer minion and his "Corruption" debuff adds an additional 10% incoming spiritual damage. A Zealot then adds Shaken and Soul Wracked. Damage INC!

When you travel to the Nusibe Necropolis you will find out rather quickly that the place can be quite deadly. If not by Traps then by the random curses being thrown onto you and your party members simply for being inside the necropolis. The debuff’s in particular can be very annoying and debilitating. Never fear though, if you get a certain item and you do a certain thing… you will be able to cast a cure spell for these ailments that will save you and your party a whole bunch of heartache. I give you “The Quest for Bane Expurgation”:

This spell is obtained via a quest which is started by right clicking on an item that is randomly dropped by creatures in the Necropolis. The item in question is the Orb of Burning Souls.

Alright then, so you found your Orb of Burning Souls. Right Click it and you get the following Quest offered to you .. and yes, you want to accept it.

“Baleful Crossing (small group quest )

As you examine the orb, small flames erupt from the center and engulf your hand, though they do not harm you. You grasp the burning orb tighter and focus into it, looking through the flames. You see countless souls flowing deep within its core, and a screeching voice floods your mind saying,

“Give me the essences of the dead”

The flames quickly slip back into the orb, leaving your hand scarless.

Quest Objectives

Collect and combine 10 Souls Orbs of Unlife.

Kill 50 Undead in Nusibe Necropolis.

De story 50 undead and harvest 10 soul orbs of unlife from the dead denizens of Nusibe Necropolis. Combine the 10 soul orbs of unlife with the orb of burning souls.”

Okie folks, you can kill undead all day and night and until your eyes and hands bleed from playing the game and never once loot one of these from a corpse.

Why is this you say? ahh… NECROPSY! These soul orbs are only available via necropsying the corpses in the Necropolis. They are fairly common so you will no doubt have gotten your 10 before you kill the 50 undead.

Once you complete the quest you will have learned Bane Expurgation and can now cure the aillments which get tossed on you within the Necropolis… enjoy!

Spell Information is available in our Spell Database !

So you are tired of riding a horse around? You are not too keen on the idea on being a panzy Necro and riding menacingly across the lands on your… unicorn??! Well then fellow necromancer, the Shadowhound is the beast for you. This mount can be obtained by doing a few (cough cough) quests for those smelly little goblins over in Martok. Read on to learn what must be done… it’s a small quest… won’t take long at all (cough cough) really!

Summary of the quest: run someplace, kill lots of stuff and run some more. Rinse and repeat.

So, here i sit, my butt is chapped and saddle sore from hours and hours on this quest, so figured I might as well make Lifebane happy and do a write-up since i am on my way to yet another far-off point. (YES! it made me happy!! — Lifebane)

This is a basic walkthrough for all those interested.

Step 1: Get enough faction to goto Martok. I had it so dont know how much…presumably -7999 martok faction.

Step 2: Run to Martok. Run to Gaxton Village, West of martok and talk to Witch Doctor Ravix…he is the quest starter.

Step 3: Run to a Mauren out in a hut in SE corner of the bay that is SE of Gaxton Village.

Step 4: Run and speak to Nerail Tharazen in a hut SW of Lomshir on Qualia (loc – 80641, 84189, 17213)

tep 5: Run South to the burnt forest by Evendusk and kill 35 shadow beasts. These can be foudn around loc -7400, -75455, 19349. Run back to Nerail to update the quest.

Step 6: Run towards Dark Horse downs and kill 40 Dark elf ghosts. These are NOT at the top of that mountain area, but at the base of it, just follow the waypoint on the map. Run back to Nerail..

Step 7: Run to a little camp in Thestra, Nrthwest of NEw Targ and Due South of Renton Keep (loc 834, -50680, 50672). And don’t forget to activate that Renton riftway if you havent alraedy since you are in the area.

Now you have to do 6 kill quests (surprise!) for the 3 NPC’s there. Lots of running aounrd in the same general area. Each quest has an accurate waypoint on the map when you select it so shoudln’t be hard to find.

1 -Run and kill for 35 Bluff Gull wings
2 -Run and kill for 20 Wild Boar Manes
3 -Run and kill for 25 Sticky Wolf Spider Silk and 15 Binding Wolf Spider Silk (from two different areas).
4 -Run and kill for 35 Ashen Hills Ash
5 -Run and kill for 20 Koan Fairie Essences
6 -Run and kill for 25 Spider venoms and then 22 of another type of spider venom, again these are from two different areas.

Step 8: Run up past Trengal Keep and kill 17 Darkpaw Stalkers or Hunters at Trengal Hill (loc 82969, 82796, 35951). Then Run over and kill 20 Shadowhounds at loc -10394, -64325, 36677). Run back to the 3 NPC’s at spider bluff and updatethe quest once again.

Step 9: Run to Stand of the Ancients in Qalia. The NPC in northern most hut will update your quest and give you the next 2 quest sets you will have to accomplish. Her first quest has you gather the following:

1 – Collect 12 Brilliant Yellow Tiger eyes (roaming tigers in the jungle)
2 - Collect 4 Unruptured lion spleens (roaming lions in the jungle, only drops off adults, not the cubs)
3 -Collect 30 Snapper Scapula Shards (from the turtles along the beach)
4 – Collect 8 snake eggs (these are the first 4 Dot’s you will face! They are kind of annoynig to find so just go to this spot and you can’t miss em: loc -11902, 5074, 5047 The can also be found on any snake, like the vipers right around that riftway, but the drop rate seems considerably lower)

Step 10: Run back to the NPC in the hut and she will then have you run out and get 35 feathers of three different types (yep 105 total). Kill the Shamans as they seemed to drop one of each most of the times. Run back to the NPc to update your quest then it’s off to Thestra again..

Step 11: Run Back to the 3 Amigos in Thestra at the Spiders Bluff camp area and they will have you run all over to the west of their location killing even more stuff, luckily POI’s exist for all 3 locations to hunt at. You will need to gather:

-12 Maiming beaks
- 6 Oilskin Worm Mucus (uncommon drop rate on these and they are UNDERwater in that lake where the POI points you to)
-45 Lizard Eye Blood (NOTE: IF YOU HAVE LEVITATE you can simply jump off the cliff, they are at the bottom of that ravine area. If no Levitate is available then work your way around there and you will find a patch leading down eventually… jumping without lev can be bad… right Stillheart?)

Step 12: Run back to the 3 Amigos at the Spider Bluffs camp again. YEAH! They finally have all the parts they need for the Shadowhound trap. now they want you to (you guessed it) run around and kill a gazillion Shadowhounds to get them worked up. Okay so only 107, not exactly a gazillion. You have to go just west and kill 35 Ashen HIll Shadowhoundsat ashen hill. You have to go up to Trendal Keep and kill 32 . The ones inside the keep and the shinkak worg stalkers outside the keep both count. You then have to go further north to the coast and kill 40 Oceanwatch Shadowhounds which are easy.

Step 13: After this you go back to the 3 guys and they send you to fargoholm to speak to Ghostclaw Liarn (-24585, -33848, 76028). The quest here makes you kill 40ish of 3 different types of mobs and 1 leader from any of the three camps. The leader randomly spawns in with the other mobs. Kill, kill, kill then go back to Ghostclaw Liarn and the get sent to the wardship of the sleeping moon. A couple riftways in this area, might be worth your trouble to activate them just for future use.

Step 14: At wardship. or rather just outside of it and standing by a tree is your next quest giver. He gives you another 3 part kill quest + 1 leader… sound familiar? These are actually quite spread out. The first 2 are along the river that runs south in to the ocean west of wardship. The third area is even further west almost all the way to new targ. Kill , kill ,kill then you go back to wardship and you get a nifty 22 slot saddlebag. Accuraet POI’s exist for all locations so no locatiosn needed, just follow the dots!

If you have trouble finding leaders just remember that they are 4 dots while everything else is 3 dots.

Step 15: Yay! Done with Thestra! Now we go back to Lomshir and speak to Nerail Tharazen who gives a quest to go inside the nexus of something or the other and kill cultists for their blood. POI on the map, the entrance to this cave is down on the beach head in and go straight down the tunnel. Get 6 blood and lighe up the skulls, then right click your trap while standing in the middle. DO NOT LEAVE THE CIRCLE OR YOU WILL FAIL. Kill the dude and hail the shadowhound to get the update. fear is your friend here and oh yes, make sure you clear the roamers first.

Each person will have to repeat this if you are running a group.

Step 16: Right click on your now recently used shadowhound trap to get the next quest update. The next part tells you to go back to the Mauren in the hut south of martok in the ocean. He will say blahblahblah and tell you to buy a saddle which cost 10g from him. After you have the saddle talk to him again and he lets you choose 1 of 6 Shadowhounds each with with different colored saddles.

Yay doggy!

Want to turn into an undead to boost your failing ego? Trying to figure out how best to become undead youself are you? Hrmm… I could just kill you outright, which would make you dead, then I could reanimate your corpse and you'd be undead… well .. sort of. Not what you were hoping for you say? Bleh.. fine fine, here are the secrets to acquiring an undead form of your very own… without being pre-dead or quasi-dead or or… bleh… dead-dead first.

Part One: Darkness Awaits

When you talk to your trainer you will get the following quest text:

Dulmier Shurdelra whispers, "The Dark ritual of Unlife: assuming the form of death itself."

Head east along the road until you find the Field of Bones ( Location 58335, -16909, 1230, – SE of Khal ).

You want to be there at night since the Restless Spirits you seek are not there during the daytime.

You need to kill the Restless Spirits until you gather up 5 essences (common drop quest items) off their corpses.

Feel free to kill the local doggies and birds to pass the time while you wait for nightfall.

Head back to the trainer in Khal once you have collected your essence quota. When you speak to the trainer you will get the following quest text:

Part Two – The Depths of Sorrow:

Speak to your trainer once again to start this next stage of your quest. When you speak to the trainer you will be given the following quest text:

Dulmier Shurdelra says, "Death can be a lonely road to walk, Lifebaene.

Enough talk, go to the docks and seek out the dead guard spirit.

Guard Duhamel wanders the docks at night ( location -42173, -34563, 1616 – In Khal).

This is on the opposite side of the Bay area than where the necromancer trainer is at. When you find Guard Duhamel you will have to click your way through the following quest text (warning long and boring):

She would sleep and sleep and never regain her energy."

YOU reply: What about the local priests?

Duhamel chuckles slightly, though his laugh is laced with bitterness…

Worse still, they kept muttering nonsense about my faith in their methods, not enough donations, spending too much time in the tavern in Tursh instead of in prayer, as if this was somehow my fault!"

"all the while, Crissa just kept getting worse and worse. After only days, she wasn't able to find the strength to get out of bed."

"Little did I know the worst was yet to come."

I'd have given anything to have her back at my side."

YOU reply: Necromancy is the study of death. How could he bring her back to you?

Dumanel continues, though it is obvious his pain increases with each word…

Duhamel's face turns sullen…

"I don't know how long it has been honestly. My existence it seems now is only to walk the docks as I did in life, guarding Khal from whatever aggressors may come its way."

"Return to me when you are ready to continue."

Boohoo Talk to the trainer again when ready for the next step in your quest.

Part 3: The Meaning of Death

You will need to speak to your trainer again. He will explain the two paths to undead form. This is strictly a chat type quest event so no excitement to be had here.. move along, nothing to see here! Talk to the trainer and you will receive the following quest text:

Dulmier says, "Before I can allow you to begin the Dark Ritual, you must first be taught the meaning of the choice lying before you."

"As in death, your body breathes no more"

Blah blah blah. the trainer gives you a difficult quest… close your quest window then talk to him AGAIN! Ta-Da! Tough wasn't it? Anyway, speak to the trainer again and get the following new quest text:

Dulmier Shurdelra muses, "I remind you Lifebaene, the choices you make can never be undone."

Dulmier Shurdelra continues, "And so the time has come, Lifebaene. The Dark Ritual awaits."u

Dulmier says, "Just because something is dead does not mean it does not have any worth.

BAM! The choice… choose wisely oh seeker of undead form… there is no current way to change this one you finish one of the two paths. It has been stated that they may add a quest to change it later, but that woudl be along time off if ever.

Part 4: Form of the Wraith / Form of the Lich

You are in the homestretch now my little necro questers. This is the last "major" part of this quest. Once you have selected your form choice you begin on this quest. The quest text is as follows:

"So you have chosen the form of the wraith. Only one thing remains. You must travel south to the Temple of Dailuk. On the ancient temple grounds, you will find a circle of skulls. That circle marks the summoning place of a being from another plane. It's flesh, foreign to Telon, is the key to you shedding yours."

"I will give you a trinket that will summon the beast. Slay it, and bring the flesh to me. I will use it to free you from your mortal form."

Hop on your horse and ride west out of Khal and then follow the road southwest for quite a ways. Check out the scenery..maybe buy a map of the stars homes along the way?! Or be lazy and port from Khal to Aghram docks since it might actually be quicker. Either way get to the Temple of Dailuk (location -84633, 68568, 9580).

Anyway, once you make that trek to the Temple the fun begins. Find the northwest Summoning circle, yes there are various circles of skulls in the Temple of Dailuk area so make sure you go to the coordinates above.

I'd hate to hear that anyone was wasting their time trying to figure out why this l@m3 quest wouldn't work!! Ooo look.. summoning circle!!

Once there, use the totem that the trainer gives you to summon (level 30 – 3 dot Gargoyle mob). Kill the High Reaver and loot the Unnatural Flesh from it. (Info on the flesh is as follows: "This flesh feels wrong to you. It does not come from a being that should be in Telon.")

NOTE: Some necromancers have reported the quest getting broken at this point. What happens is that when uou use the item the mob never spawns. And yes, it has broken 2 or more times in a row although that is VERY rare so don't be discouraged.

Take your looted goodies back to the necromancer trainer in Khal. When you speak to the trainer you will get the following quest text:

"This flesh is exactly what is needed. I will prepare the ritual now."

"This is your last chance to turn back Lifebaene. After I complete tihs ritual, you will be a wraith until the end of your existence."

"You will gain the ability to shed your mortal form!"

BAM! you are now able to assume your spiffy new undead form. Congrats! Now relax a bit… you did it.. now you are done… well not exactly done. Talk to the trainer again!

Part 5: Further Studies

When you talk to the trainer again you will receive a new quest with the following quest text:

"Now that you have chosen the form of the Wraith, you must study. I will give you a tome from which you can learn. As you have learned, this knowledge is dangerous in the wrong hands. Because of this, a spell has been placed on the to me so that you can only read it, if you have put your mind in the proper state."

"When you are ready, speak to me again, and I will teach you how to do this and I will give you the tome."

Speak to him again to complete that step and you will get the following quest text and then be handed your tome / book:

"Be wary. Even those who think they are ready can cause great harm to themselves… and to others."

You want to pretend you are dead? What for? You want to play tricks on the vultures… lay down on the ground and make them circle around you thinking they will have a nice snack perhaps? Well it used to be a fun thing to do in my youth at least. Ah well, so feign death you say? In this land we call is Rest of the Dead.

The spell itself is obtained via a quest which is given to you at level 20 by a Necromancer Trainer. Confirmed trainers that give out the quest are the ones in Lomshir, Khal, and Hathor Zhi. If you know of any others please let us know and I will update the guide accordingly.

When you speak to your Trainer you will be given the following Quest Text:

The Art of Death (Group)

“The art of death is one that very few can master. However, learning the skills and rites is the easy part. Before you can even begin to practice this power, you must find one willing to pass on to you its secrets.”

“If you wish to harness death, you must seek out Master Vallerex. A man who lives by his teachings, Master Vallerex resides in Kalendra’s Coven just north of the Upside Defense Garrison in Skrilien Point.”

~ Quest Objectives ~

Seek out Master Vallerex in Kalendra’s Coven, just north of the Upside Defense Garrison in Qalia’s Skirilien Point.

You will need a solid group here of 20ish level characters to succeed with this quest since the Coven is full of Level 19+ 3 dot and 4 dot mobs with a 5 dot boss mob hiding down there somewhere (no need to mess with the boss though for this quest).

CHEESY SPOILER ALERT: Currently you can get invis cast on you or get one of the spiffy little invisibility casting click able crafter created items and simply invis your way down to finish this quest. Recent changes have added roaming see invis mobs in there, avoidable if you are smart abnd lucky, but risky.

The quickest way to get to the Coven is to take the red riftway to Strand of the Ancients then grab a wyvern and fly over the mountains to the north. You'll be there in a minute or so going that route. If can't go there yet via riftway, head to the Upside Garrison. From there head east. Kalendra’s Coven is located on the NE side of Qalia in the Skrilien Point chunk (location is -21442, 40361, 1590). What you are looking for is a hole in the ground near a rock outcropping at the southern end of the area, not the large cave to the west. The hole / entrance is S-SE of the Pool of Purification

To get to Master Vallerex you will need to go down this hole and enter the dungeon portion of this area. There will be sneaking enemies (aka invisible) quite frequently so proceed with caution. Don’t move up too fast, give your detection skills time to see the sneaky npc’s before rushing in to their waiting arms hehe.

And then there was Map!!

Head straight down the path and then take the first right turn as you enter the first 4 way intersection / room. After this right turn you will then come to a jail room (needed for another quest so kill the jailor and free a prisoner if you have that quest since you are in the neighborhood). Continue straight through this room and continue down the path. You will go down a flight of stairs and then come to another 4 way intersection.

Straight ahead is Master Vallerex’ Room, to the left is the passage you will need to go down after talking to Master Vallerex (The Hall of Detention that has the non-aggro Failing Pupils inside of it). Go ahead and clear the roamers in this left path and the halls near the intersection now.

Directly ahead of you is Master Vallerex in a room with numerous invisible mobs lining both sides of the walls to the right and left. When we snooped in there were a couple that aggro’d but I believe those are guarding just inside the doorway. Kill those off and then you can safely walk straight down the MIDDLE of the room… there is a slightly visible guideline / crack that serves as a good guide to make sure you aren’t drifting to the sides so walk the line and you should be safe. Master Vallerex will appear at the far end of the room when you get in range (human monk in red tights hehe).

Talk to Master Vallerex and he will give you the following text / quest:

The Art of Death

Master Vallerex stares at you critically, saying, “Know this, Lifebaene. You are here because you were sent to me, not because I invited you to come. I do not tolerate those who are not completely dedicated to the dark arts. Should you fail me, you will find yourself wishing you had never come to this place”

Complete the Quest and get the update, then Master Vallerex will say the following:

The Art of Death

Master Vallerex taps his fingers together and says, “So you wish to learn how to take on the mien of death? Only the most devout can wear the guise of the death so convincingly as to fool their enemy. To merely emulate is to fail. One must have an intimate understanding of death to succeed.”

Master Vallerex grins evilly, “To embrace death is the easy part. It’s training yourself to return to life that’s tricky. Let me show you how it is done. Bring forth a failing pupil!”

Objectives

• Escort a Failing Pupil to Master Vallerex

Master Vallerex of Kalendra’s Coven wishes to demonstrate the power of feigning death. Go to the Hall of Detention within Kalendra’s Coven and return to Master Vallerex with a Failing Pupil.

Remember the Failing Pupils in the Detention center I had you clear the path to previously right? Good, now go there. As you head out of the room Master Vallerex was in it will be to the right at the intersection. Go into The Hall of Detention and talk to a Failing Pupil. Right clicking the Failing Pupil will not generate any interaction or text. You need to target one of them then press “H” to hail them (unless of course you remapped H to be something else hehe) .

The Failing Pupil will say something about “Ooo ahh Master Vallerex wishes to see me! Lead on” Or some such, I neglected to worry about his one line of text… sue me hehe.

Walk back to Master Vallerex, again walk down the MIDDLE of the room, when you get to Master Vallerex, talk to him and you will get the following text:

The Art of Death

Master Vallerex gazes into the Failing Pupil’s eyes and says, “Excellent… You will do nicely.”

Continue the quest text series and get the following quest text:

The Art of Death

Master Vallerex yells, “Feeding time!”

And then the poor Pupil gets ganked… oops, sucks to be him. Oh yes, Master Vallerex Feigns dead now too, showoff!!

Continue the quest text thread and get the following text update:

The Art of Death

Master Vallerex says, “Do you now understand the skill required of you to use this ability effectively? This is not a game, Lifebaene. Heed my words if you wish to truly grow in power.”

Master Vallerex grins, “With that said my senses tell me you were wise to come to me. Hear my words one last time, and you shall understand what it means to be dead.”

Objectives

Speak with Master Vallerex to learn the ability: Rest of the Dead.

Continue the quest text thread one last time and get the following update:

The Art of Death

Master Vallerex nods, “Go now and master this art, Lifebaene. I have no doubts that you will put it to good use.”

Master Vallerex says I have nothing more to teach you Lifebaene,. Be gone.”

You will have automatically learned the Rest of the Dead spell (aka Feign Death). Now Underworld Journey out of there with your party (aka evac) and go flop around happily pretending to be a corpse.

Congratulations!

A special thanks to the groovy bashing crew of Supernaught, Ilyria, Heckler, and Anngy of Shidreth for their help in getting this quest done.
