A bit about myself I suppose is in order. First off I am an online game fan from way back when, dare I say back in the MUD days. But then one day I played this game that changed it all for me, Ultima Online turned this online gaming thing into what future MMO’s would be. I have jumped around through most every MMO that has been made really so I have a very broad range of MMO experience you might say.
I had been involved with gaming relates sites in the past, between running various guild sites to partnering with a friend on the now defunct necro.eqclasses.com (aka eqnecro.com) I actually began all of this info site business by simply writing up the things that people would ask me repeatedly in game, basically explain it once and put it where others could find it. Less in game stress for me hehe. When I joined Vanguard I ended up doing what I had for necromancers in EQ, made a site. www.vgnecro.com was born! I ended up becoming the second and last necromancer class lead for Vanguard which was quite an experience. It was an honor and a privilege really to be able to try to help out the community in a more official way, although still being able to do what I always have and how I have always chosen to do it.
After that I continued dabbling in other MMO’s (Age of Conan, Star Wars Galaxies, World of Warcraft, Warhammer Online, Lord of the Rings Online, Dungeons & Dragons Online, etc.) and scribbling notes about those as well but nothing as serious as my previous projects. The latest in this series of ever evolving websites is www.gamermonkey.com which was born of my interest in Champions Online.
Jonaphin (AKA The Code Monkey)
I have been coding sites and internet applications for companies for years now. I tend to be a very funny French guy who always has something humorous to say, even if at the least opportune times.. oops. I partnered with Lifebane to create VGNecro.com on a whim when we both noted the lack of a necromancer specific class site for Vanguard. My thinking was that with Lifebane’s experience at this kind of thing and with my coding skills, well something good had to come of it. We’ll let you all decide how much truth there was to that.
While I am not as involved in gaming as Lifebane is, I still get my gaming fix through MMO’s when time permits. I have played WoW, WAR, Vanguard (briefly), LOTRO, SWG, various PvP style FPS games, and most recently Champions Online.
Some time early in this sites development I was branded with the nickname of the Code Monkey, a name which I have grown fond of and laugh at every time I see it. The community members are great and have made these projects a lot of fun.
